Simple Ingredient Szechuan Cabbage Recipe

We are here to help! In Part 1 of our new YouTube series ‘TheHome.com: In the Kitchen’ we had a local chef come by and show us how to make this easy and delicious spicy Szechuan cabbage!

Szechuan Cabbage

Serves Two

Ingredients:

Half a head of cabbage – chopped into big pieces

2 tbsp butter

2 gloves garlic – thinly sliced

Half jalapeno (or other Thai pepper) –thinly sliced (add more if you like it spicier)

2 tbsp sesame oil

¼ cup chicken stock

2 tbsp soy sauce

Recipe:

Heat pan to medium and melt butter

Add sliced garlic to pan

Turn down heat to medium low – cook garlic for 2 minutes

Add sliced jalapeno to pan – cook jalapeño & garlic for 1 minute

Add sesame oil and chopped cabbage to pan– make sure heat is medium low (sesame oil does not like heat)

Cook cabbage down a bit, focusing on not browning the garlic

In 2-3 minutes add chicken stock to the pan—this will speed up the cooking

Turn up heat to medium

Add soy sauce

Stir and cook down for a couple minutes
