7 Date Night Ideas At Home

By Jennifer Parris

Up until recently, your typical date night with your spouse or significant other went something like this: you’d go out to dinner and then  see the latest movie or art opening. But now with Coronavirus causing everyone to shelter in place, leaving the house is not a possibility for the foreseeable future. But that doesn’t mean that you have to ditch date night completely. With some creativity, you can have date night right from the comfort of your couch. Check out these ideas for the perfect date night at home!

Game Night

Break out the board games and turn date night into a fun and festive time. You can find games that you’d both like to play to put you in a competitive spirit. Whether it’s an online game or a game of cards, make the most of your time together, and remember to laugh…a lot.

Spa Time

With all the stress that everyone is under lately, a spa night sounds pretty amazing right about now. Light some candles that are guaranteed to promote serenity (like lavender or your favorite sent), and indulge in a face mask for some serious self pampering. You can even treat your partner to a massages to help work out the knots from all the stress you’re surely feeling.

Create Goals

Let’s face it: life is busy. So after the kids are in bed, sit down with a glass of wine and talk about your plans for the future. It might be something as simple as where you’d like to take a vacation in the upcoming months, or it might even be more meaningful to discuss goals for your relationship. And remember, having an open and honest conversation can help create connection, which can be very sexy, indeed.

Cook Together

Sure, you could order in, which is something that can definitely help your local restaurants to stay in business during this challenging time. But why not try cooking with your partner instead? You might have to improvise a little since some pantry staples still might be scarce, but you can always make a meal together. Even if it’s not exactly the gourmet masterpiece you might have imagined, it will be delicious because you made it together.

Do Some Decorating

Like most homeowners, you probably have at least one or two (or ten) home improvement projects that have taken a backseat to life. That’s why you can use your date night to pick a to-do and get started. Don your comfiest clothing and get ready to dive right in, whether it’s painting an accent wall, putting up a shelf, or even designing a new layout for your kitchen.

Make It A Movie Night

Can’t get to the movie theater? No problem. Rent the latest flick, and sit down to watch it with your loved one. If you want to recreate the moviegoing experience, you can always use a projector and watch the movie on a blank wall or even a sheet. Make some popcorn in the microwave, and get fancy by adding extra toppings that your local theater probably doesn’t have, like Parmesan cheese or chocolate.

You can still have date night despite what’s going on in the world right now. In fact, you can make it even more delightful (and delicious) by spending some time in your favorite place…with your favorite person.
