How Thomas Vailly Designs Bio Materials Out of Waste

At the Heimtextil Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, we were excited to chat with Thomas Vailly, owner of Studio Thomas Vailly. He reveals his innovative approach to turning waste material into fabulous bio materials for the luxury, hospitality, and retail industries.

Using agricultural byproducts that would normally go into a landfill, Vailly’s team creates bioplastic without any added chemicals. This bioplastic can then be shaped into various forms and used for furniture, decor, and packaging. They also repurpose wastewater by extracting fibers and upcycling them into hard composites.

Vailly’s goal is to inspire designers and firms to uncover the potential of bio materials from waste products by engineering them for industry uses. Watch Thomas’ full interview to learn more about his bio materials on our YouTube channel here.
