Be OUTSPOKEN: Design That Makes a Statement

From tapestries to furniture, Be OUTSPOKEN offers fun and edgy home pieces that spark confidence and provide a call to action for anyone and everyone to live their best lives. We caught up with designer and artist behind Be OUTSPOKEN, Susan Kaineg at High Point Furniture Market last spring to chat about the inspiration behind her pieces, how she started and her overall goal for the brand.

After experiencing gender inequality while working in the tech industry, Susan began painting on cowhide as a way to express her frustrations. That creative outlet quickly flourished into a business.

In this video, Ellen chats with Susan about a variety of her pieces, including her feminist take on the classic ottoman, appropriately called “The Otto-Woman.” For more information on Susan and Be Outspoken, check out her work on Instagram @be.outspoken.decor, or shop these pieces on their website.
