Removing Candle Wax from Carpets 08/27/08
Question: I dropped a melted candle in the carpet. How can I remove the wax?
Answer: Everyone loves candles but not on their carpets! Fortunately, it is pretty easy to remove the wax.
Instructions for Removing Candle Wax
First, scrape off as much of the spill as you can.
Next, place several plain (non-printed) paper towels over the wax spill. Using an iron on the lowest heat setting, gently go over the area. Be careful not to let the iron come in contact with the carpet fibers or let the iron get too hot. This can melt synthetic carpet fibers!
The iron should warm the wax and the paper towels should absorb that liquid. You may have to repeat the process several times. Make sure to move the paper towels to a fresh area or use a fresh paper towel if it becomes saturated.
If the wax still persists, you may wish to call a professional carpet cleaner to tackle the job.
