Scott Thomas is introducing a collection with Michael Connors. It has a Caribbean influence with some modern or modern influences. Thanks for joining me this morning. Well thank you for having me. Talk with me about this collection and some of the pieces that you are bringing to it. The collection was inspired by furniture that I found in the Caribbean that was made there. Island made furniture in the 1930’s, 1940’s and as late as the 1950’s. Let’s talk about the shapes and the designs also. Well, the shapes and designs of all of the furniture in this collection are curvilinear and of the what you and I would know and call the Art Deco period or more correctly the modern area. This is a period that lasted over a period of 30 and sometimes in some cases, some islands, 40 years. There are influences from different countries and different styles, can you tell me about that? Absolutely, the Caribbean was settled and colonized by five different countries; England, Spain, Denmark, Holland and France. So, if we go to one of the Spanish islands, for instance Cuba, we see Spanish inspired furniture. If we go to the French islands, we see furniture that was inspired by French design. There’s a great table that is from, influenced from a Cuban table – talk about that. This particular table that I think you are speaking of is a dining table but it is four to four and a half inches lower than the standard dining height in today’s market.
