Okay so I’m not your typical Lilly girl, but I’m in the Lilly Pulitzer Showroom and I love it and I’m joined by Britt Albright.

Okay so tell me about this new collection, it’s fabulous. Thank you, thank you.

We’re all about color and being happy and bringing a great heritage brand into the forefront for home furnishings. Lilly Pulitzer has been here for 50 years, it’s an institution in the fashion world and it’s one of those classics that people have never grown tired of and it wasn’t that it needed to be reinvented it was ready to bring it into another avenue.

We had all the great fabrics to start with and then we studied a little bit more about the things that would have happened in Palm Beach and things that happen in luxury resorts all over the country and we interpreted some of the things that would have been the classic institutional sort of resort silhouettes. It didn’t even have to be freshened up; the interesting thing is it was already kind of timeless. They’re just classic things.

It started with the color you can’t deny that, there’s a certain palette and they stick to that palette and they’ve been known for that it’s their pedigree if you will, and we knew we had to have white, we knew we wanted to have lots of bright, cheerful lacquers and then we felt like people can’t live with just that so we knew that a lot of people take furniture from their primary homes, a lot of its mahogany, much of it’s traditional, and they integrate it with other things; the whites and the brights and then we even said you’ve got to have some casual things because people are not dressy and so we said we have to have wovens and so it just took shape from there and then you throw in the upholstery and it’s Lilly.
