Kincaid Furniture has introduced Homecoming – a cause marketing collection that will benefit Habitat for Humanity.

Homecoming is a furniture collection for the whole home with three different wood species. We are using solid walnut, solid pine, and solid maple and it’s for every part of the house so we’ve got bedroom, we’ve got living room, we’ve got slipcover upholstery, we have dining room, and we have lots of choices.

We’ve tried to keep things that fit in keeping with the farm house and some of the things you think of your past but at the same time have renditions of them that are fresh and new with new finishes, fresh finishes but it’s got sort of a reclaimed sense about it, a time honored sense about it, its using our solid wood construction so it’s got the same craftsmanship type techniques and so forth with a lot of handwork in the finishes and really trying to play up the lumber and the wood species just a very natural and authentic product.

After traveling around and looking in antique stores in different parts of the country and farmhouses in the different parts of the country we really wanted to capture some of that feeling and we’ve also seen fashion wise some of those same items and some that same look come back in the marketplace over the last year.

We really think that when we prepare the finishes with some of these interesting items like a gun cabinet out of solid walnut which is a great item for us or maybe some of the shop trucks that we’re using that are authentic pieces from our factory along with the solid pine you see a pie safe that has been converted into a wine safe.

It’s a new function with some time honored looks and some pieces that should take people back to what their childhood and some good memories were. In today’s environment people are very aware of what is going on around them. They certainly see there is a lot of opportunity to help people and we’re using that to come back in and build a relationship with Habitat for Humanity were we can use cause marketing and drive a portion of the proceeds back to Habitat for Humanity. So 1% of all the sales from all of the Homecoming Collections will go back to help them build simple, safe, decent housing.
