Gray Color Trends in Furniture 12/10/08

Today’s manufacturers have dropped the high-luster, metallic finishes that were popular in past seasons, opting for more subtle matte finishes in a wide array of gray-infused shades.  Glossy metallics are being replaced with pearlescent finishes.  From slate and charcoal to lavender-infused shades, we’re seeing elegant and simple variations in everything from upholstery to accessories.

Painted finishes have moved from metallic silver to a Gustavian gray. Gray-infused linen makes a new statement in neutrals and even green-hued grays find their place in this season’s collections.

Gray becomes an even harder-working neutral when infused with neutral beige and brown undertones. Lavender infused shades of gray are trend-on and pay homage to the surge of purple in today’s runway fashions.

One hot pairing to look out for this season is yellow or gold with any shade of gray. This fresh palette is showing up everywhere from bedding and accessories to high end upholstery companies as well.

However you choose to use it, you’ll see: Gray is fresh again!
